Well, through my other job writing features for a website among other things I made a contact with my favourite art gallery owner and when I was there the regional Arts Society lady walked in! As a result I was invited to attend a meeting with the Council lady... So basically I have the two contacts I want the most. So plans for creating some paintings for an exhibition to pitch to the gallery owner in about 6 months to a year...coming up!
So I am thinking I would like a theme... and that will be a continuation of my love for relicious iconography and also the poetry within hymns. But it will be about expressing repression and freedom, and love and hate. And surviving. And also its about holding still and surviving when thats all you can do...thats what the stillness is. In fact it might mostly be about that! About holding still and surviving because thats all you can do. But also the fairy tales woven in to them are about the stories we live our lives by - the stories we tell ourselves, the stories others tell us, and the stories we choose to believe in and live by whether we are aware of it or not. Also about the power of those stories how your story can be about being stuck so you are, whether that is a concrete reality or not - its one you live out.
I am working on Snow White sleeping under trees after eatting the apple - the colours and the style is woven in with ancient Islamic art - especially its colours. Will be looking into a name from old hymn book and finish it this week if it works out that I can...
